What Higher Ed Gets Wrong About AI Chatbots — From the Student Perspective

By Mary Jo Madda

In Mary Jo Madda's article she explains how she thinks that schools and universities should push to include Ai chatbots in the learnings process of students. With this she also explains how she thinks it's not a good idea to try and ban in outright. Her idea is that schools are putting too much effort into busting students for cheating with Ai and that they should instead look at how it could help the learn. Mary also explains that Ai acts as tutors, editors, and brainstorm partners that act can act as guidance for students.

I disagree because I feel that even with proper policy and guidelines the students will still find ways to manipulate and use Ai in not effective ways.

"Don't ban ChatHPT in Schools. Teach With It" By Kevin Roose

Roose talks about how his interactions with parents, administrators, and teachers on their worries about ChatGPT usage by students in schools. He brings their ideas into perspective and debates. His claim is that they should come up with ways to use ChatGPT to teach instead of banning it.

I disagree with his statement because students will continue to find ways to manipulate restrictions and policy in order to cheat their way through their education.

"Should we let students use ChatGPT?" Natasha Berg

Natasha Explains the concerns of teachers and parents have with Ai with the newer generation of students. She explains that the way the teachers are teaching need to be changed to cope with this as well as make it more effective in the long run. She goes on to say that teachers need to do more collaborative learning in the classroom as well as teach things that are more likely to be used in these students' futures based on interest with the use of AI.

I agree more with what she has to say because she further explains her method of enhancing there learning with descriptive measures on how students and Ai should work together to learn.

"More schools want your kids to use ChatGPT. Really." By Blake JonesMadina Touré and Juan Perez Jr.

This article explains that schools are incorporating Ai into teaching rather than banning it. The authors explain the concerns of cheating, privacy, and misinformation amongst teachers. They go into the issue of how banning AI is ineffective because there are so many forms of AI that restricting it will be a waste of time.  The point that Ai will be helpful to prepare students for future jobs shows the upside of the use of Ai in schools with the fact that teachers are incorporating Ai into lessons in the classroom.

I agree with this article because they give real world evidence as well as scenarios where Ai will be useful as well as a collaborate to educating.
